Emergency Descent Device (EDD)

Provides a safe and rapid method of descent from an aircraft during an on-ground emergency situation requiring aircrew egress.

Attached to the inside of the aircraft permitting two-hand descent.

Internal centrifugual braking mechanism slows the descent to a safe rate.
Descent Distance (Specified distance should be greater than expected maximum descent): **20 to 46ft (5.1 to 14.2m).

Velocity at end of descent (Descent velocity varies with user weight and length of descent): Less than 16 ft per second (4.8 mps) after 20 ft.

Overall size, stowed - 7 x 7.75 x 1.75 inches (177.8 x 196.9 x 12.3 mm).
